Plumbing Star Formation Rates in the Age of JWST

This 5 day workshop focuses on defining strategies for converting JWST photons into reliable star formation rates at z>5 using available multi-wavelength methods. We consider sub-kpc processes that shape the integrated star formation rates and how to overcome the inherent challenges of using primarily rest-frame UV/optical measurements. Measuring accurate SFRs at these wavelengths is inextricably tied to measurements of interstellar dust, and JWST should reveal much about the formation and evolution of dust over cosmic time. Our ambitious effort will be lead by Prof. Daniela Calzetti and Prof. Rob Kennicutt.
