The George P. and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics and Astronomy, housed in a 6-story, 43,700 square-foot elliptical building, is located at the corner of University Drive and Ireland Street on the main Texas A&M campus. Mitchell Institute adjoins the 5-story, L-shaped George P. Mitchell ’40 Physics Building. Together the two facilities stand as the cornerstone of the Mitchells’ commitment “to provide an innovative and inspiring atmosphere for students and faculty to study, teach, research and enjoy the many exciting challenges of physics.” The Mitchell Institute is located in the northeast quadrant of the main Texas A&M campus, directly across from the Northside Parking Garage.(Call ahead to reserve guest parking.)

Texas A&M University sits in the center of the triangle formed by U.S. Interstates 10, 35, and 45. The twin cities of Bryan and College Station are consistently rated as one of the most livable metropolitan areas in the nation, with great schools, shopping centers, hospitals, and restaurants. Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport are each about a two-hour drive away.

Parking

The closest visitor parking is provided by the Northside Parking Garage, which is just across the street from the Mitchell Institute, at the intersection of Ireland Street and University Drive: Northside Parking Garage’s Location


Travel Information

Easterwood Airport (CLL) is located only 2 miles from campus and offers 4 daily flights from/to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on American Airlines and 4 daily flights to/from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) on United Airlines. All flights use regional jets.

You may also wish to consider flying into Houston-area airports (George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH); William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) and complete the rest of the journey (100 miles) by rental car or airport shuttle. You can arrange shuttle service to & from Houston airports with GroundShuttle.
