Preparing the Next Generation of Scientists Through MIPEP
Through the Mitchell Institute Physics Enhancement Program (MIPEP), a select cohort of Texas science teachers receive the tools, knowledge, and creative ideas they need to engage the next generation of students in rigorous science and mathematics. The two-week, rigorous physics course held each June is aimed at preparing science teachers who are now teaching physics, yet who took little to no physics courses while in college.
Physics and Engineering Festival
The annual Physics and Engineering Festival, hosted by the Department of Physics & Astronomy, the Mitchell Institute, and Aerospace Engineering each spring, introduces children and their parents to informative and entertaining science experiments, demonstrations and guest lectures. Each year, some 300 faculty, students and staff interact with more than 4,000 visitors from Texas and several other states. Visitors include families, organized groups of K-12 students, prospective and current Texas A&M students, and national organizations such as Davidson Young Scholars.
Star Gazing
Don’t miss the next Aggie Star Party hosted each month on the Texas A&M campus and sponsored by the Mitchell Institute. The Star Parties are open to all and run by Astronomy faculty and students.
